I have been reading articles regarding the WD problems and loss of data which is why I made the post. The VCD looks like an actual CD volume and appears on the screen each time you connect your WD drive to the computer.
The VCD contains the WD SmartWare installation software, the encryption and password protection application, User Manuals, and other resource files. I know there is Smartware for Mac for non cloud WD. Hello, Am i right in saying that there is no Smartware software for a Mac using My Cloud? I can't find any - all there seems to be is Smartware for My Cloud using a PC.
Copy all files and folders to My Passport Essential/Essential SE/ Passport for Mac. Unzip and launch the WD SmartWare Disk Image for Windows or mount the dmg image to the Mac desktop. After the download completes, locate the WD SmartWare Disk Image in the location you saved it. Select the Windows or Mac version of the WD SmartWare Disk Image.
